Concord Housing + Redevelopment Announces Construction Contracts
Concord, NH—May 19, 2011—Concord Housing + Redevelopment (CH+R) announced that Hutter Construction Corporation will build its new administrative headquarters located on Green Street in downtown Concord. Warrenstreet Architects will provide design services. Both firms are well known in Concord for their award winning work.
Having purchased the property and satisfied all city regulatory requirements, CH+R will replace the dilapidated, vacant building with a modern, efficient facility that is expected to improve administrative operations and access by CH+R clients.
Despite having a smaller foot print and more off street parking, the view of the property from the street will be largely unchanged.
CH+R chose the site because it alleviates neighborhood blight, it’s proximity to the downtown area, its ability to support onsite parking, is accessible by public transportation and is centrally located among its property holdings.
The new facility will be specifically designed to create an office environment which is accessible, attractive, sustainable and operationally efficient while preserving the unique smoke and other mature trees on the property.
“This is a solid play for us on multiple fronts,” said Concord Housing + Redevelopment Executive Director John Hoyt. “With better access for the constituency we serve and better efficiency for the people we employ, we are going to be able to perform at even higher levels and realize the benefits of efficiencies we would otherwise not have. This location and this building will serve our needs for years to come.”
Although the contracts have been awarded, Hoyt noted that negotiations over remaining details continued. Once completed, Hoyt said they will be released to the public, which he expects will be within the next two weeks. The project is scheduled to be complete by the end of September.
