About Concord Housing Authority

Advocate...Develop...Operate and Manage

Concord Housing Authority (CHA) has been administering subsidized housing programs for over 25 years through federal funding from the Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD).  The Housing Authority was established in 1961 by action of the Mayor and the former Board of Alderman (now the City Council).  Construction began in 1962 on the John F. Kennedy Building for low-income seniors and adults with disabilities.  Soon after, the Crutchfield and Boucher Apartments were erected to house additional elderly and disabled individuals, providing over 200 public housing units.  The Haller and Ceriello Apartments were built in the late seventies and eighties, providing 59 additional units for low-income families.  In addition to these units, CHA administers 224 Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers throughout Concord and neighboring towns.  A board of five Commissioners who advise the Executive Director oversees the Housing Authority.

In the summer of 2002, CHA established the Concord Housing Foundation (CHF) as a 501(c)(3) non-profit arm.  Through this Foundation, Merrimack Valley Day Care Services has been contracted to operate a free, licensed after-school program on-site at our Haller Property for school-aged residents.  The program recently was a recipient of the National Association of Housing & Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) Award of Merit.  Just as exciting is the recent announcement that CHA, in cooperation with Concord Area Trust for Community Housing (CATCH), announced a Section 8 Home Ownership Program.
